Non-Surgical Urinary Incontinence Treatments

Up to 60% of women struggle with urinary incontinence and most are too embarrassed to talk about it. If you suffer from embarrassing urinary incontinence, we can improve or eliminate an embarrassing problem with a non-surgical treatment that is safe and effective.

Causes of Urinary Incontinence

In some cases, your urinary incontinence may be a temporary problem caused by a urinary tract infection, eating spicy foods, or drinking caffeinated beverages. However, when incontinence persists, it’s due to weak urethral muscles or pelvic floor muscles, or in some cases, both. These muscles are typically weakened by:

  • Menopause: loss of estrogen at menopause causes weak urinary tract muscles
  • Childbirth: pelvic floor muscles are stretched and weakened during vaginal delivery
  • Natural aging: pelvic floor muscles lose strength and tone as you get older

The pelvic floor muscles are a group of muscles that essentially form a sling across the bottom of your pelvis, holding your bladder and uterus in place. The muscles that control urine flow are also part of the pelvic floor muscles. The two most common types of urinary incontinence are:

Urge incontinence

Urge incontinence occurs when you have a sudden, very strong need to urinate. As a result, you can’t hold it in and you leak urine, sometimes while you’re on the way to the bathroom.

Stress incontinence

Stress incontinence is the most common type of incontinence in women younger than 65. It can even affect young college athletes while they’re engaged in sports. When you have stress incontinence, you leak urine when stress is placed on your bladder. Laughing, coughing, sneezing, and exercising commonly cause this kind of pressure. You can also have mixed incontinence, which is when you have urge and stress incontinence at the same time.

Types of Non-Surgical Incontinence Treatments

There are several different types of surgical and non-surgical treatments for urinary incontinence that meet with varied degrees of success. Advanced Surgical Arts focuses on two very effective non-surgical Incontinence treatments; the EMSELLA and the Fotona IncontiLase® procedure.

EMSELLA Incontinence Treatment

The device for the procedure, looks like a chair — and your treatment consists of simply sitting in the EMSELLA chair that uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic technology to stimulate all the muscles in your pelvic floor at one time. One session with EMSELLA, delivers thousands of pelvic floor muscle contractions. This is comparable to performing thousands of Kegels for all your pelvic floor muscles. With EMSELLA, your pelvic floor muscles contract with more intensity and frequency than you could ever achieve with Kegel exercises and works more muscles than you can target with routine Kegels. As EMSELLA strengthens all of your pelvic floor muscles, you regain neuromuscular control of your urine flow and eliminate incontinence. The chair is painless and completely noninvasive and you sit in it fully clothed. Each session only takes 28 minutes. Studies show that after just six treatments, 95% of women are satisfied with their results.

Advantages of EMSELLA
  • Non-Surgical
  • Painless
  • Requires only 6-8 sessions
  • No Downtime
  • Safe and effective
  • Treats Both Urinary and Stress Incontinence

Fotona IncontiLase® Procedure

IncontiLase® is a non-invasive laser therapy for the treatment of mild to moderate stress urinary incontinence. The laser treatment uses non-ablative photothermal stimulation of collagen to shrink and tighten the collagen-rich tissues in the pelvic region creating greater support for the bladder.

Advantages of IncontiLase®
  • Non-Surgical
  • Virtually Painless
  • Recovery is Extremely Quick
  • Requires Only 2-3 Sessions
  • No Downtime
  • Safe and Effective
  • Treats Stress Incontinence
Exceptional IncontiLase® Results

Scientific results from clinical studies show excellent improvement for mild and moderate stress urinary incontinence. After 120 days, 94% of patients reported improvement and 68% of all patients claimed to be free completely free of any incontinence symptoms.
