Does the procedure hurt?

The laser is virtually pain-free and uses an advanced cooling tip to soothe the skin and keep from causing discomfort.

How does the laser remove the hair?

Laser technology for hair removal is based on the dynamics of light and heat. Using an 808 wavelength, it travels down the hair follicle to the root and destroys the hair root without damaging the surrounding tissue.

How is this laser treatment different from other laser hair removal processes?

The 808 Diode uses a painting technique that makes the process extremely fast yet effective. Also, it has cooling tip that makes the treatment virtually painless.

Do I need to shave before?

YES, you would be a good idea to shave the night before the treatment. This helps to make the procedure more effective and comfortable. If you do not shave, the laser follows the hair in both directions (toward the root and above the skin surface). We want all the laser energy to travel towards the root.

Does it remove the hair immediately?

It will treat the hair immediately but the process takes about a week for the hair to actually fall out. During this time you may see the area get darker as the follicle comes to the surface and then falls out.

What do I need to do before my treatment?

Prior to your treatment, you will want to avoid sun exposure for several days, sunless tanners, oils & creams, Nair, waxing & tweezing. We will ask that you shave the area the night before.

Can I do it during the summer when I’m tan?

YES, you can! We will work on a scheduling plan so that you are able to avoid the sun for a few days before and after. For 2 weeks following you will just need to wear an SPF of at least 30 on the treated area.

How many treatments will I need?

Because hair grows in stages, only about 20% of hair follicles are available (in the anagen phase) at any given time to be permanently eliminated. This is why we cycle 4-6 weeks between each treatment and why it takes several treatments to fully eliminate all the hair.

Will it any hair grow back in treated areas?

We cannot guarantee that the hair won’t grow back because changes in hormones, pregnancy and other factors can play a role in hair growth. If this happens, you should only need a few touchup treatments to remove new growth.

Who is the ideal candidate?

Our laser treats all skin types. Patients with darker skin could require more treatments. Unfortunately, we are not able to remove grey, blonde or red pigmented hair.

What do I do after the treatment?

You will want to avoid deodorant, lotions, saunas, direct sunlight, working out or anything that can cause excess heat to the area for at least 24 hours. Think of the treatment like a sunburn and you will not want to add more heat to the area. You will also want to avoid exfoliants including shaving for at least 24-48 hours.
